Dieting is the restriction of food intake in order to lose weight.
Reduction of food intake is followed by rapid weight loss but it has many
adverse effects on the body. Some of the side effects of dieting are:
- Weight re-gain:
Mostly
people regain weight after dieting because there body get used to malnutrition
and wants to safe itself by overeating.
- Low metabolism:
High
metabolism is associated with increase weight loss, but when person is on diet,
its metabolism becomes slow. This can make him gain more weight in the future,
- Fainting:
Due
to reduced eating, blood pressure or blood sugar is lowered down, that can
cause fainting.
- Acidosis:
Dieting
cause increase acidity in blood, that disturbs body balanced environment.
- Dehydration:
Increase
fluid intake leads body to dehydration.
- Gallbladder diseases:
Due
to inappropriate diet, there is a chance of increasing gallbladder diseases
like bladder stones etc.
- Constipation:
Low
food intake can lead to constipation. Constipation can give rise to many other
digestive tract diseases like piles etc.
- Anorexia nervosa:
It
is a condition in which a person feels no hunger. Even the people who started
dieting for being healthy can develop this eating disorder. Some time it is
that much severe that it can lead to malnutrition and then death.
- Fatigue:
Energy
is required to do work and we gain energy from the food we eat. When you don’t
eat much, you get tired soon and have low stamina.
Other
symptoms are:

· Low libido
· Rashes
· Seizures
· Bloodshot eyes
· Bulimia nervosa
